Spirituality

Jesus Christ is the reason this school exists. His message of love permeates every classroom from physics to algebra to Spanish. Each class period begins with prayer. In addition to the formal religious education, Gospel values are taught in every subject of the curriculum. Students have opportunities for communal worship, formal and informal prayer, Christian service, and retreats, and are encouraged to pray in the Notre Dame chapel throughout the day.

Theology Department

Theology classes are required for all students. The Theology department is committed to help students learn more about the Catholic faith and traditions, to develop values grounded in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to grow in love and service to God, self and others.

Our Spiritual Leadership

We belong to the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau, we are served by Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn, and we were founded and served by the School Sisters of Notre Dame until July 1, 1999 when Brother David Migliorino became Principal. Tim Garner, class of 1993, was named principal in May 2020. In 2024, the school transitioned to the president / principal model. Paul Unterreiner, 2002 Notre Dame graduate, was named principal, while Tim Garner was named as the school’s first president.
