Nancy Greaser to Bring Competitive Cheer Back to ND

Nancy Greaser has been named Notre Dame’s cheerleading coach for the 2025-2026 school year. She is taking over a well-established sideline cheer program, and also adding competitive cheer during the fall season.

Notre Dame had previously fielded a competitive cheer team, qualifying for state in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002. The school will once again have the opportunity to compete at regional, state and national competitions through the Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association (MCAA).

Nancy (Ziegler) Greaser is a 1989 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School. She was a competitive gymnast in her youth, being named the Missouri All-Around Champion. While attending Notre Dame, she transitioned to cheerleading and was named a Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) All-Star and summer camp instructor. She obtained a degree in mass communication and advertising from Southeast Missouri State University, where she was part of the coed cheer squad that placed 11th at Nationals through the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA).

Greaser returned to SEMO to coach both the coed and all girl’s cheerleading teams, as well as working in the Athletics Compliance and Athletics Marketing departments.

Greaser will soon add another coaching title to her resume with Phantom Athletics. Her connections will also allow Notre Dame to partner with Phantom Athletics to utilize their facilities and coaches to help prepare for competitive cheer.

“My hopes for the cheer program at Notre Dame are to build on and elevate their game day presence,” said Greaser. “My primary focus will be to have the teams well prepared with efficient practices, build self-confidence within each team member, and challenge them by setting the bar high. I want the fans to have an inclusive experience at the ball games and leave with a sense of pride for their team and school. I am also looking forward to re-introducing the cheer team to competitions at the regional, state and hopefully national level with our new partnership with Phantom Athletics.”

Greaser is married to her high school sweetheart, Bryan, who also graduated from Notre Dame in 1989. Bryan is an attorney in Cape Girardeau, and they have two daughters Sierra (’19) and Brooklyn (’22).

“I am a proud alumnus of Notre Dame and can look back on very fond memories of my time spent cheering at the old school and gym,” says Greaser. “Right now, the timing seems right for me as my youngest is wrapping up college and I have time and energy to devote to the ND team. I am very excited to get started on this new journey together.”
