Notre Dame Regional High School has tapped Garrett Watson and Gary Loos to lead the boys tennis program for the upcoming spring season.
“We are excited to have both Garrett and Gary joining our Notre Dame boys tennis staff. Garrett brings an on-staff presence which the program has needed, plus head coaching experience. Gary brings many years of tennis experience and is still highly involved in the tennis community. Both are alums of Notre Dame and will spread our school mission as our new boys tennis coaches,” said Notre Dame Athletic Director Jeff Graviett.
Watson, who will be the boys tennis head coach, is Notre Dame’s freshman Theology teacher and 2013 graduate of Notre Dame. He took over the wrestling program in 2017, sending qualifiers to the state tournament during six seasons.
“I am excited about doing something new. I hope to lead the team to success on and off the court,” said Watson.
Loos is a 1975 graduate of Notre Dame, and joins the coaching staff as an assistant coach. Loos has 45 years of experience playing tennis, organizing leagues and tournaments, and developing players. He assisted the boys and girls tennis teams at Cape Central last season.
“I’m very excited about joining the coaching staff at Notre Dame for many reasons,” said Loos. “One reason is that I’m a Notre Dame alumnus. My Catholic faith is a very important part of my life. Another reason is knowing all of the returning players, and many of the players planning to join the team. They are good students and players, and I want to assist them to be their best on and off the court. I also want to encourage other students to consider joining the tennis team, which is a sport that they can play for a lifetime. I am committed to doing my best for the boys tennis team and for Notre Dame Regional High School, and looking forward to working with the tennis coaching staff!”
